Ms. Manders has worked in the legal field for nearly twenty years.
Before joining Scalfone Law PLLC, she spent the last fourteen years working with Attorney Lee Alcott and former United States Attorney for the Northern District of New York, Daniel J. French, first at Green & Seifter, Attorneys PLLC, and for the past ten years at French-Alcott, PLLC.
Ms. Manders began her career as a costume and bridal designer and owned her own business designing costumes for, among other places, Syracuse Opera and the Sterling Renaissance Festival. Having moved on from design, Ms. Manders began her legal career at Irwin Birnbaum, P.C., a practice primarily focused on personal injury and medical malpractice.
Areas of expertise for Ms. Manders include: commercial/civil litigation, landlord/tenant issues, personal injury, insurance defense, Indian law, and government compliance.
Ms. Manders received her B.A. from S.U.N.Y. Oswego and attended the Paralegal Studies Program at Bryant & Stratton College in Syracuse.
Ms. Knittel is new to the legal field but boasts over 10 years of office management experience. She began her career at The Sutton Companies where her duties include, among other things, management of all properties leases and tenant issues. From there she went to DLH Properties, Inc. where she did general accounting and personnel management.
She grew up in Clay, NY and received her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia College in Syracuse. When not working she enjoys spending time with her 4-year-old son.
Ethan Peterson is a rising 3L at Syracuse University College of Law (SUCOL) and is pursuing a Master’s Degree in International Relations from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. Mr. Peterson is focusing on International and National Security Law and International Economics and Business. He will receive a Certificate of Advanced Study in National Security and Counterterrorism Law from the Institute for National Security and Counter Terrorism (INSCT) at SUCOL.
Mr. Peterson graduated cum laude from Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science in 2014. While there he volunteered with the IUP Women’s Tennis Team and coached the Indiana Area High School Boy’s tennis team.
Before joining Scalfone Law in May of 2016 Mr. Peterson served as a legal intern at Millennium and Copthorne Hotels in London, UK where he facilitated service agreements between various hotels and service providers and reviewed and negotiated lease agreements for the corporation. He has also volunteered with the Syrian Accountability Project and the Syracuse University Program for Refugee Assistance and competed on a team placing in the top 5 of the Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition Regional Finals.
